For the record, real, #gorgeous women of #African descent are NOT threatened by the racially insensitive #Kardashian antics or their copycat ways of appropriating the innate style, femininity and beauty of women of African descent…that’s like comparing a Lamborghini to a Kia.
However, we’re annoyed and tired of Hollyweird glorifying every non-woman of color as a goddess when she has .0001% of physical attributes we’re naturally blessed with…features we get slammed or ignored for on a consistent basis.
Personally, I don’t hate Kim Kardashian–I just abhor what she represents.
What she represents is how the media constantly frames Black women as the least desirable for marriage, dating and love and goes out of its way to showcase mostly Black men with ANYONE else–white, latin, Asian, Martian–ANYONE, but Black women, but never vice versa even though PLENTY of Black women are in interracial relationships and doing just fine, thankyouverymuch.
What she represents is the bullshit industry/media telling women of African descent that everything about us from our bodies to our personalities is “undesirable” UNLESS it comes in a NON-African looking package OR if it comes in a stereotypical package–“jungle bunny, crackwhore, asexual Mammy, hyper sexual video vixen etc.”
All of this envy and hate is ironic because–as DNA proves–we all have African blood in us…some of us are just closer to spectrum’s origin and we’re the ones who get the most hate.
As Adegoke said below in the article below,”why does a black butt only look good on white skin?”
Good question.
We should start by opening our eyes to the politics driving these conversations, stereotypes and media motivations–to degrade and slam the beauty of Black women while at the same time extolling it in any other race simply because they’re NOT Black is disgustingly, blatantly racist (and sexist! but that’s another conversation…) and isn’t about “beauty” at all, but rather about a society which loves to go out of its way to make women of African descent feel “inferior” because it keeps the illusion of their “superiority” intact.
Don’t agree? Ok—then why does “beauty” have to be attributed to race at all when it’s universal?
To be blunt–no naturally beautiful, talented, intelligent and sexy (yes, you can be BOTH) #GODDESS of African descent is thinking of or worried about Kim’s plastic ass, Pam’s plastic tits or even Jolie’s inflated lips (Google her as teenager before you get butthurt).
It’s not even a blip on our radar.
What Black women want is for the media to stop demonizing/ridiculing us for the very traits non-Black women wish they had and pay billions to get.
What Black women want is to be acknowledged and appreciated for our intelligence, our beauty, our influence, our passion, our femininity, our soul in addition to our strength, spirituality and contribution.
We want INCLUSION.
We want RESPECT and CREDIT given where it belongs—THAT would be a good start…and drop the “Jungle Fever” phrase while you’re at it.
This one’s for YOU–ALL my #beautiful, Black women then, now and in the future who were told you were “too dark,” “too ethnic,” “too curvy,” “too WHATEVER” to be appreciated for the celestial #Queenyou are…especially Saartjie Baartman #HottentotVenus and all the countless women like her whose pain and suffering made it possible for the Kardashians of the world to make millions.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO SHINE.
True beauty transcends racial prejudices and barriers. See the media lies for what they are and hold your head up high always.
Africa is where it ALL begins and if you degrade #Africa and Her children, you degrade yourself.
Have some respect and knowledge for the #truth.
